A special feed for your horses can be bought at a feed store. You can even feed your horse some oats and cake. to start your horse off on oats would be about 1/4 of a bucket. You can gradually work your way up on the feed every couple weeks. Only a couple of pieces of cake a day. Putting your horse on a field that has alfalfa is good, but you should only let them be on the field for about 2 hours.
I wanted to tell a story about a horse that can really buck. This horse is about 18 to 19 hands high and is usually very lazy. He doesn't like someone who rides him with spurs. I was used to riding my horse, but she wasn't home at the time, and I totally forgot about having my spurs on. I was going to get some cattle in to brand and a calf ran off so I went after him. My horse started to buck because he didnt like the spurs jabbing him in the side. As he bucked, i came out of the saddle and when his back end came up i came down and hit the saddle. I went flying through the air and when I landed my legs were under me and I spured myself. I have learned my lesson since then. I have more stories I will tell later so stick around and check out my posts.
